About the property

Serra Mesa Apartments is a proposed affordable housing development located in the Serra Mesa neighborhood of the City of San Diego on the former Serra Mesa Library site, which has been vacant since 2006. The redevelopment of this underutilized site will provide much-needed affordable housing while revitalizing a key community location.

The site is well served by nearby amenities, including retail, public transit, parks, and highly rated schools. Costco and Target are located approximately one mile north of the site, and a CVS Pharmacy, public library, and Cabrillo Heights Park are within a half-mile, supporting resident access to essential services and recreational opportunities.

Serra Mesa Apartments will feature sustainable, energy-efficient design and will be a 100% electric development targeting GreenPoint Rated Silver certification. The project will comply with CTCAC Accessibility Standards, including at least 15% of units with mobility features and 10% with communication features.

CHW will provide on-site resident services for all units, aligned with its mission areas of Financial Well-being, Next Generation Success, and Health and Wellness. In addition, the development will include 30 VASH units, that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will be providing housing support and case management services to.
