Sue Reynolds Valor Scholarship Program

Awarding high-achieving Community HousingWorks residents who want to pursue post-secondary education

Each year, Community HousingWorks awards the Sue Reynolds Valor Scholarship to high-achieving residents living in Community HousingWorks homes who want to pursue post-secondary education opportunities. The Sue Reynolds Valor Scholarship is for students of all ages and can be applied to community colleges, four-year universities, career and technical certifications, GED programs, military education, and more.

Valor scholarships can be used for education-related expenses, including tuition and fees, room and board, transportation, books and school supplies. Applications are reviewed and evaluated by a committee comprising staff and volunteers.

The Sue Reynolds Valor Scholarship application period is currently closed.

The 2026 application period will open in January. Please check back for updates.

Valor Scholarship Celebration 2025

“I would think...I'd be so happy if I could just get an apartment and stop living in my car. And showering at the gym. And cook like an actual meal, in an oven. When I got the email that my application was accepted, I cried.”

“I saw the announcement for the Valor Scholarship on the board in the laundry room...I went upstairs and in MY living room, with my dark blue couches, where I'm safe, I'm in no danger, I began to dream. What if? What if I actually got my G.E.D.? I want to pursue a degree that will allow me to give back after all that I've taken. I want to help others find their dreams.”
