COMMUNITY HOUSINGWORKS APPOINTS SAN DIEGO DEVELOPMENT LEADER TO EXPAND PHILANTHROPY EFFORTS
Alexis Rodriguez joins the executive leadership team as Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement
SAN DIEGO – October 29, 2024 – Community HousingWorks (CHW), a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops, rehabilitates, preserves and operates quality affordable apartment communities, has appointed Alexis Rodriguez as Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. Rodriguez brings more than 15 years of experience managing successful fundraising campaigns and leading advancement teams for well-established nonprofits.
“Alexis brings to CHW a vision for expanding our fundraising pipeline over the next several years,” stated Community HousingWorks President & CEO Sean Spear. “Alexis has extensive experience leading teams and building successful fund development programs, and her expertise will be invaluable to our executive team. I’m excited to see the positive impact she will have on our efforts to secure financial support for our resident services programs.”
Prior to joining CHW, Rodriguez was most recently the West Regional Director for the Parkinson’s Foundation where she spearheaded the strategy and execution of mission delivery and revenue development. She led and managed an advancement team for four chapters which spanned 13 states and launched two Advisory Boards in California and the Southwest. Under her leadership, fundraising revenue for the region increased on an annual basis during her tenure.
Previous to her work at the Parkinson’s Foundation, Rodriguez was at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP) where she managed the school’s first capital campaign to modernize the 135-year-old campus. She also executed the inaugural OLP Alumnae Weekend and supported the annual Women’s Symposium.
Rodriguez also spent 10 years with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) where she directed the organization’s fundraising events including the Walk to Cure Diabetes and Gala. She managed corporate partnerships, as well as launched the Young Leadership Committee and the Kids Helping Kids program in San Diego. Her initial work in the nonprofit sector began at the Alzheimer’s Association of San Diego where she joined shortly after her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
“The team at Community HousingWorks has made great strides in recent years to raise the organization’s profile and grow their philanthropic support. I’m excited to expand on their successes to raise funds to support resident services such as afterschool care for children, wellness programs for older adults, and financial classes for working families and teens,” Rodriguez explains. “I look forward to working with CHW’s supporters, partners, volunteers and everyone who strives to help the people in our communities build futures for themselves and for future generations.”
Rodriguez was recently nominated to the 2024 Latino Leaders of Influence list by the San Diego Business Journal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from San Diego State University and a master’s degree in nonprofit leadership and management from the University of San Diego.
