Elizabeth Bran
Meet Elizabeth, a resident in CHW’s Keeler Court Apartments community! Elizabeth loves going hiking and to the gym, she’s a big foodie and likes exploring coffee shops around the community. Elizabeth also enjoys going to park right next to the apartments as well as the dog beach with her German Shepherd, Sasha. She was on state disability when she first applied for a Keeler Court unit. Moving to a CHW community made a huge difference in the life of Elizabeth and her family who were deeply impacted by her disability and the pandemic.
Elizabeth is part of CHW’s Credit Strengthening Program and as said in her own words, “having the support and seeing that improvement in credit scores gives me hope that this is just a phase.” Having a financial advisor, in person, reaffirming what she was learning, gave her the confidence and tools that she needed to become educated and take control of her financial situation. With the help of Veronica, one of CHW’s stellar financial coaches, Elizabeth has been able to set goals and have a financial plan in place that helps her hold herself accountable. Elizabeth explains, “being held accountable has been vital in improving my credit.”
One of Elizabeth’s goals is to get a new car and is currently working on making payments on time. Elizabeth mentioned that “Veronica has boosted my confidence in myself; I’m not that credit score.” Elizabeth thought she wouldn’t be able to purchase a car, but working together with Veronica through financial coaching has expanded her possibilities. Elizabeth is working diligently with CHW’s Financial Advisor Services to achieve her short- and long-term goals, which include buying a new car, being a homeowner and pursuing higher education. Her goals are now starting to turn into reality. Elizabeth told us, “As a result of the financial literacy support I received from Veronica, I was moved to enroll in school and am working on obtaining my associate’s degree to transfer to USC for my bachelor’s degree in Political Science.”
