Affordable Housing Month:
More Than a Home
May is Affordable Housing Month for Community HousingWorks it’s a time for us to pause and reflect on something we see every day: a home can change everything.
For the families, seniors, and individuals we serve, a safe, stable home isn’t just shelter, it’s the turning point. It’s where a child can finally focus in school, where a parent can begin to rebuild financially, and where someone can start to feel healthy, safe, and hopeful again. That’s what we mean when we say “More Than a Home.”
This month, we’re also celebrating the opening of Jacaranda on 9th, a new CHW community that brings this vision to life. It’s a place where residents don’t just find housing, they find support, connection, and a real opportunity to move forward.
But here’s what many people don’t realize: the services that make this possible—afterschool programs, financial coaching, and wellness support—are not covered by rent. They are only possible because of philanthropy. And that’s where you come in.
Join CHW this month to help make our communities More Than a Home.
Consider making a gift this month to help ensure residents don’t just have a place to live but have the opportunity to truly thrive. Your gift directly supports the delivery of impactful programming to residents at Community HousingWorks communities. Click the donate button to make your gift.

Whether you donate, share our story, or both, thank you for believing that everyone deserves more than a home and being part of what makes this work possible.
Gifts to CHW are unrestricted and support all of our resident services and programs. The examples below illustrate the types of opportunities your contribution can help make possible:
Next Generation Success gives children access to after-school programs and literacy support, awards scholarships like the one Melody received, and prepares young adults for careers.
Health & Wellness empowers residents through programs like the Resident Leadership Academy that connect residents with the Lotus Group and other vital resources.
Financial Well-Being helps families avoid eviction through financial coaching, supports residents in building credit and savings, and teaches youth financial independence.
