Ways To Help

Being a cultural and technological gem it is, San Jose has earned the nickname “Capital of Silicon Valley.” Silicon Valley is considered to be a major technology hub in the Bay Area. San Jose is well-known for being a center of innovation and mediterranean climate. Prior to all of these, San Jose was known for its orchard fields, vegetables, and fruits.

Housing Needs in San Jose

Living in San Jose is expensive due to the growing industry of technology companies. Everything is expensive from food, gasoline, utilities to homes. Homeownership is tough in such high-prices regions like San Jose. As a matter of fact, according to an article, a median home in the San Jose area costs more than $850,000. It was also stated that households in San Jose need to be earning more than $200,000 to even be in the top income quintile. A rising cost in high-end areas like San Jose is pushing people out to the streets. Sad to say that San Jose is actually one of the cities with a high rate of unsheltered homeless individuals/families. Aside from the high cost, a shortage of affordable housing is making the problem a lot worse. Though a handful of other organizations have already addressed this on-going issue, it is still not enough to accommodate every person or family that is out in the streets.

Affordable Housing in San Jose

Since Community HousingWords (CHW) started its operation in 1988, we have always believed that opportunities begin with a stable home. In addition to the affordable homes that we build and develop, CHW provides various resident-centered services to help the residents. Throughout our operation, we have developed, rehabilitated, and operated countless affordable apartment communities in San Diego and throughout other parts of California. By numbers, we own over 3,600 apartments statewide and serve more than 9,000 working families, children and seniors. We continuously work hard to provide our residents both home stability and opportunity through powerful programs, services and connections. Financial stability, improved health, and overall well-being is what we aim for!

Indeed, there are still many people who are living an unstable life without their own home in San Jose. The kind of help that we provide is not possible without the help of our generous donors.Through great donations, CHW is more capable of providing individuals and families a place to call home. If you would like to help in fulfilling our goal of helping families, children, and seniors, your generous donation is greatly appreciated. Simply fill out the information needed with the amount that you would like to donate. With your donation, you can present a brighter future for people who are having difficulty finding an affordable home. You can also help by participating in our volunteer programs.
