Ways To Help

When people think of Oceanside, they think of it as a paradise. Oceanside is known for its great year-round weather, amazing coastline, and the well-known largest wooden pier situated in the West Coast. There is no doubt that Oceanside has a lot to offer. It is even known for its palm-dotted Harbor Beach and the California Surf Museum that showcases the history of surfing along with surfboard collection and exhibits of famous surfers.

Housing Needs in Oceanside

As of this year, the median house cost in Oceanside is about $600,00. Living in Oceanside can be quite costly. Indeed, housing expenses and price of renting are way higher compared to other cities with similar size. It was stated that Oceanside has consistently had one of the county’s highest rates of homelessness. Though there are numerous programs and plans implemented and organizations created to address the problem, it is unfortunate to say that the housing crisis is still growing faster. That is why affordable housing is important. Affordable housing provides individuals and families with low and moderate income with a safe and sustainable home. Affordable housing does not only provide a way for individuals and families to save money for other things such as education and necessities in life.

Affordable Housing in Oceanside

Community HousingWorks (CHW), a nationally recognized nonprofit organization, has developed, rehabilitated, preserved, and operated countless affordable communities in San Diego and throughout California including Oceanside. As a matter of fact, we own and operate Mission Cove Seniors and Old Grove Apartments located in Oceanside. Mission Cove Seniors is a transit-oriented development that includes 138 apartment homes for seniors age 62 and above. On the other hand, Old Grove Apartments features 56 affordable homes. There are 10 homes that are targeted towards families that work in local agricultural industries. In addition there are four apartments designed to accommodate and support disabled individuals. Furthermore, CHW is proud to present the different areas of our program impact namelyFinancial Well-Being, Next Generation Success, Health and Wellness, and Supportive Housing. We strive to positively impact the lives of many.

Indeed, there are still many people who are living an unstable life without their own home in Oceanside. The kind of help that we provide is not possible without the help of our generous donors. Through great donations, CHW is more capable of providing individuals and families a place to call home. If you would like to help in fulfilling our goal of helping families, children, and seniors, your generous donations are greatly appreciated.
