Ways To Help

Azusa is located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles County. Since it is at the entrance to the San Gabriel Canyon, Azusa was given the nickname “The Canyon City.” Residents and Visitors of Azusa experience warm, dry summers because it has a warm-summer Mediterranean climate.

Housing Needs in Azusa

In 2019, it was reported that homelessness in Azusa has more than doubled, but the homelessness count has dropped in 2020 by 25%. Homelessness has been a growing and challenging issue not just in Azusa but also countywide. This is definitely a problem that cannot just be solved overnight and will require tremendous effort to combat this problem. Though actions and protocols have been done and set to address this problem, it is still an alarming issue waiting to be resolved. Aside from not being able to afford the high cost of living in Azusa, many may experience homelessness for the first time due to the increasing unemployment rate as an effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Affordable Housing in Azusa

Affordable Housing has a great impact on families and communities. Affordable housing can provide stability and forge a better future for individuals and families and also prevent homelessness. That is what Community HousingWorks (CHW) works hard towards, providing a stable home that will change the lives of its residents. 1988 was the year that CHW was founded. We are a nonprofit organization nationally recognized for developing, rehabilitating, preserving, and operating affordable apartment communities in San Diego and other locations throughout California. As a matter of fact, we have one located in Azusa called Azusa apartments. This is a newly-renovated rental community that provides residents full access to a range of on-site after school and adult programs. CHW is proud to present the different areas of our program impact: Financial Well-Being, Next Generation Success, Health and Wellness, and Supportive Housing. We strive hard to positively impact the lives of many! Indeed, there are still many people who are living an unstable life without their own home in Azusa. The kind of help that we provide is not possible without the help of our generous donors. Through great donations, CHW is more capable of providing individuals and families a place to call home. If you would like to help in fulfilling our goal of helping families, children, and seniors, your generous donations are greatly appreciated. Simply fill out the information needed with the amount that you would like to donate.
