Meet Our Residents

CHW Rental Communities provide homes to working people–families and individuals working hard for wages that are not rising while the cost of living in San Diego continues to go up.  Our rental communities also serve elderly and disabled people on fixed incomes.  CHW residents find a home they are able to afford; a friendly and supportive community and, opportunities for a brighter future.  Residents are people you run into everyday–teachers, office managers, factory assemblers, retail workers, maintenance technicians, surgical technicians, florists, hairdressers, line chefs, landscapers, front desk clerks, farm workers, mechanics, waitresses, cashiers, lab technicians, cab drivers, physical therapists, design consultants, spa managers, food handlers, and mechanics.

Some CHW Rental Communities also provide housing for people with special needs, such as families fleeing domestic violence or homelessness, people with disabilities, or disabled, homeless veterans.

To live at a CHW Rental Community you must:

  • Meet specific income guidelines that vary by location
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Have an acceptable rental history and credit check
  • Participate in an orientation that provides introduction to new home and community and, the menu of opportunities available to residents who want to move up in the world.
