Nestled between two market rate apartment complexes and bordering on Camp Pendleton Marine Base, Fallbrook View is an innovative community that provides 80 rental homes to farm worker families employed in the heart of North San Diego County’s agricultural area. CHW offers access to a medical clinic though a partnership with Vista Community Clinics and to an on-site, Head Start child care center.
While the price was right, the site conditions were challenging: the 4.11 acre site is located on a steep slope that required two shoring walls, and when a quarter acre had to be set aside as a wetlands preserve, CHW put 37 apartments on a concrete podium above subterranean parking in order to preserve the affordable housing. Fallbrook View received the Pacific Coast Builder’s Gold Nugget Award.
Residents have access to a community center which hosts CHW’s Learning Center programs for youth and adults, a computer room, an on-site, early childhood development Head Start facility, a health screening office staffed by our partners, Vista Community Clinic, large multi-purpose meeting room with kitchen, as well as the usual on-site laundry, property management and maintenance offices.
